Botanical Name: Vitis vinifera
Family Name: Vitaceae
Description: The grape plant is a climbing vine that grows to about 30 feet. It has small green flowers that develop into bunches of sweet flavoured green or purple fruits. The oil is extracted from the seeds of the fruit of the plant. This oil has a light texture and is a very popular oil in massage.
It is one of the least expensive carrier oils and tends to be mixed with another carrier oil such as almond oil when used in aromatherapy. Grapeseed oil is pale green in colour and has a high percentage of linoleic acid and a small amount of vitamin E.
Healing Properties: Grapeseed helps to stimulate circulation, tones greasy skin and is often used to strengthen cuticles and stimulate the growth of nails.
