Botanical Name: Daucus Carota Sativus /Daucus Carota Sylvestris

Family Name: Umbelliferae/Apiaceae

Description: The carrot is a biennial herb with a spindle shaped taproot, which is white in the wild variety and orange or yellow in the cultivated variety. Used as a vegetable by the Greeks and Romans and brought over in Elizabethan England by Flemish refugees. Carrots contain carotenes (provitamin A), Vitamin B, vitamin C, sugars and pectin’s.

Healing Properties: Reduces the damage of UV rays and is often an ingredient in sun creams. Helps dry skin, rejuvenates the basal layer/ maintains elasticity of skin, inhibits the proliferation of various types of cancer cells/ helps to condition and stimulate hair growth.
