Botanical Name: Persea Americana, P. gratissima

Family Name: Lauraceae

Description: Avocado is a tree that grows in America and the Mediterranean countries. It is an evergreen tree that grows to a height of around 30-60 feet. The tree has dark green oval leaves and greenish yellow flowers that develop into yellow, red, green and purple fruits. The pulp of the fruit is soft and buttery in texture with a large kernel inside. The carrier oil is extracted from the flesh of the avocado and is rich in vitamin A and D.

Healing Properties: It is rich in lecithin and is a very good oil to use on dry, dehydrated and mature skins. Skin complaints such as eczema and psoriasis can also benefit from the use of this oil, helping to relieve the dryness and itching caused by these conditions.
